Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path.

My Story

I grew up in Brownsville, Brooklyn—a neighborhood known for being rough, but also full of heart. The outside world saw the crime stats. I saw neighbors who cared, a family rooted in faith and drive, and a community that taught me how to stay grounded no matter what was going on around me. My parents gave me and my siblings everything they could: structure, support, and a foundation rooted in values. Still, like a lot of young people, I had to figure out who I was in the middle of it all.

At one point, when I started slipping in school, my mom sent me to military school. Going from Brooklyn to an all-boys campus in rural Virginia was a shock. It was one of the hardest seasons of my life, filled with strict routines, constant discipline, and no room to hide. But it taught me what it means to push through discomfort and grow through structure. That’s where I learned the true value of discipline, accountability, brotherhood, and perseverance. I still carry that experience with me today.

I started college, dropped out, and reached a low I didn’t know how to climb out of. For a while, I was ashamed to even go home. I spent some time without a place to stay—lost, disconnected, and feeling like I had let everyone down.

Eventually, I came back to New York and started trying to piece my life together. I worked every kind of job. And then, my aunt offered me a position at The Children’s Aid Society - Dunlevy Milbank Campus, lovingly referred to as “Milbank”. That moment changed everything. The kids I worked with gave me light when I had none. Just by showing up every day, they reminded me what purpose felt like. They helped me see what I was here to do. I say it all the time—they gave me a new lease on life. And that’s why I go so hard for them.

Since then, I’ve built a life and career that reflects what matters to me. I co-founded Traphaus, a fitness space where culture, joy, and strength live side by side. I lead youth programs, host events, and partner with brands that care about community. Every part of my work is about helping people, especially kids, see that they matter, that they’re capable, and that they already have something to offer.

That’s what I needed when I was younger. Now, I get to be that for the next one coming up.
